KLCC SALES REPRESENTATIVE

General Characteristics:
A KLCC Sales Representative is responsible for sales, servicing and collection of radio station underwriting contracts; sells air time for underwriting to businesses, advertising agencies and other accounts in and around the community; does related work as required. work requires considerable initiative and excellent communication skills and sales techniques to close deals and collect on contracts.

Examples of Work:
Generates own leads and phones or makes in-person calls on prospective and current customers to sell and service radio station underwriting contracts; completes paperwork associated with selling and servicing accounts including writing underwriting copy, scheduling orders and periodic sales reports; sends proposals and letters to clients.

Works with a station traffic staff to schedule and service accounts; acts as a liaison between accounts and station personnel; seeks to resolve problems related to accounts.

Collects initial down payment when underwriting contract is sold; makes initial contact to collect past due accounts.

Prepares for and attends sales meetings, staff meetings and other station activities; designs and supervises the production of sales materials; serves as a public relations representative to civic organizations and trade associations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to generate own leads and make "cold calls", in person and over the telephone on prospective customers; skill in selling underwriting; ability to close deals; knowledge of business marketing; ability to service and maintain current accounts in a timely and effective manner; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to. organize tasks and work independently; ability to prepare sales documents accurately and rapidly; ability to drive safely; ability to type and operate a microcomputer; ability to make effective sales presentations; ability to solve problems; ability to collect accounts; ability to work safely.

Supervision:
Works under the general supervision of the KLCC-FM Station Manager. Day-to-day direction is provided by the KLCC Development Coordinator who is available to answer questions or troubleshoot problems on a daily basis. Work is performed independently according to established policies, rules and regulations which must be followed. Work is reviewed periodically for results achieved through feedback from customers and the overall sales record.

Supervision of others is not a normal responsibility of this position.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent is required. One year of media sales and account servicing experience is required. A current Oregon driver's license is required.

Equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered qualifying.
