Medical Assisting AAMA Information

The American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is the professional association for medical assistants. The purpose of the American Association of Medical Assistants is to promote the professional identity and stature of its members and the medical assisting professional through education and credentials.

  • The American Association of Medical Assistants Lane Chapter Medical Assistants (LCMA) is the local chapter of the AAMA. LCMA meets at 6:00 pm on the third Thursday of each month for continuing education and a general membership meeting. Students in the MA program, are expected to attend AT LEAST ONE of these meetings EACH TERM. Attendance at these meetings is an excellent way to network within the medical community and to make contacts with prospective employers. Certified Medical Assistants are required to accumulate sixty (60) credit hours of continuing education every five years in order to maintain current status of their certification. The monthly LCMA meetings include continuing education programs.
