Invitation to Faculty Connections

Fall Faculty  Invitation

When colleagues want to join the fall program...

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to Faculty Connections, a faculty led integration and orientation program for new faculty members (less than 3 years). We always begin with a two-day seminar, held prior to inservice.   The program connects colleagues throughout the college and helps each of us become a fuller part of the faculty as a whole.  Our objectives are to introduce you to teaching and learning resources at Lane Community College and other faculty colleagues.

The entire curriculum is delivered with active engaged teaching methods. These methods are shared, so you can use or adapt them with your individual classes as you see fit. There will be limited lecture.

I will match "new" faculty members to experienced faculty mentors. Your first meetings will ocur during lunches at the fall kick-off seminar.   A stipend will be paid at a rate of $75.00 for each half day of attendance, up to a total of $300 for the entire program.

As a Faculty Connections participant, you will be invited to a year-long series of events including an active Moodle shell, roundtable discussions and social events.

Please bring a syllabus with you. It can be one you have used in the past, or one you currently use at LCC. We will share strong elements of our syllabi in small group sessions.

  • Dietary accommodation.  Food will be provided both days including; coffee, tea, breakfast items and lunch. I make an effort to accommodate vegetarian and vegan diets. Please bring what you need to meet your specific dietary needs.
