I am writing to update you on changes to college functions as a result on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Winter Term Final Exams
LCC will not hold in-person winter term final exams. Faculty have been asked to determine how they will complete their courses and assign final grades to students. Faculty will communicate with you regarding final exam changes. You should expect to hear further guidance and instruction form your instructors. If you do not hear from your instructor by tomorrow afternoon (Friday March 13th), please contact them or the division office. Exceptions to this ban will only be granted for courses requiring specialized equipment or personal evaluation of student competencies.
Spring Term Instruction
The first three weeks of the spring term will be delivered by remote methods and will begin as scheduled on March 30th. Instructors are being asked to prepare ways for students to access course materials remotely and begin the term without attending classes on campus. Your instructor will be in contact with you by March 30 via email or Moodle regarding changes to course delivery. We will continue to provide updated guidance and support. We will continue to assess and monitor the situation, and will provide further guidance about plans for the rest of the term no later than April 10.
Barring campus closures, and under extreme and rare cases, some specialized and/or career-technical spring term classes may be permitted to to have limited on campus meetings where necessary. Your instructor will notify you if this is necessary for your course.
We understand that these are stressful and trying times for all. We will work to provide access to instruction and continue to provide the support you need to be successful. For instruction related questions, please contact your course instructor. For other information, please contact the appropriate college department. The campus directory can be found here.
We anticipate campus services and technology access will remain open and available. The library maintains a limited number of laptops and tablets to loan to students for instructional use.
Effective Friday, March 13th, all nonessential college travel, both domestic and international is suspended indefinitely. This suspension includes travel within the state of Oregon.
Effective Friday March 13th, Lane Community College will cancel all nonessential events on college property. This restriction applies to events at LCC’s Center for Meeting and Learning (CML), and all college and community-related performances, activities, and athletic events occurring on LCC campuses and facilities.
Please remember to continue to follow good personal health habits: wash your hands frequently, cover coughs and sneezes, stay home if you are sick, and call first before going to a health care provider. These are important steps we can all take now to help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
