This procedure describes steps to take to make submissions to Lane Weekly, the employee newsletter.
Lane Weekly is the official employee newsletter of Lane Community College. Its purpose is to provide news and information to help employees fulfill Lane's vision, mission, core values, and strategic directions. Employees should review each issue to stay informed of Lane business, policies, news, and events.
Lane Weekly is emailed Tuesdays unless otherwise announced announced.
Submissions should be concise and written according to the Writer's Style Guide for Lane Community College, which is based on the Associated Press Stylebook. Text will be edited for brevity and style. Formatting such as boldface or tabbing is prohibited due to incompatibilities between email programs, browsers, and computer systems.
Send submissions directly to firstname.lastname@example.org. Do not email the editors directly. Submissions cannot be taken over the telephone or in person. Include your name, department, and email or phone number. Submissions will be attributed to the contributor unless otherwise indicated. Deadline for submissions is 3pm on Monday or the working day prior to publication date.
Lane weekly is distributed by email to LCC employees and to a separate subscribers list including Lane Board of Education members.
The newsletter is not printed or published online.
Content includes events, news and announcements, trainings, Lane job openings, and employee ads.
Content is subject to the editor's discretion in determining what is of interest to readers and what is good for the college.
Ads are considered a job benefit and are free and available only to employees. Ads will be published twice and may be repeated up to four times per term upon contributor request. Lane Weekly cannot publish corporate or for-profit business ads but employees may recommend a service provider, using their own name and number as a contact. Political advocacy and personals ads cannot be published.
Illness or memorial notices must be approved by a family member, close friend, or co-worker.
