Get real world work experience

Employers are interested in more than just your degree. It’s important that you’re able to show that you have relevant, real world work experience. Our Cooperative Education department partners with local businesses and organizations to provide internships for students in their field of study. Many students even continue to paid employment at their former internship site. All Business degrees at Lane require three credits of Cooperative Education courses, so you’ll be well prepared for your career when you graduate!

Stackable Credentials

While earning your Administrative Office Professional degree, you will automatically earn your Business Assistant certificate at the end of your first year. This certification will propel you towards your degree while also demonstrating you understand the functions of business to prospective employers.

You can further specialize your Administrative Office Professional degree by choosing an elective paths that will grant you an additional certificate to further specialize your skills.

By earning your Customer Service Certificate, you’ll demonstrate your understanding of how to work effectively and personably with clients and customers. Through the customer-oriented courses, you will gain the strategies and skills necessary to balance meeting the needs of your company while providing customers with a helpful, positive experience.

Modern offices can’t function without software. An Office Software Specialist Certificate will show that you’re not intimidated by a mouse and keyboard and provide you with the training you need to thrive in any office environment.

The Legal Office Skills Certificate helps prepare you for a career in a law or government office. This certificate not only prepares you for a career as a legal secretary, but also helps you start your journey towards becoming a paralegal. Through a partnership with Umpqua Community College, you can complete this certificate on its own at Lane before completing your second year in UCC’s Paralegal Studies AAS degree entirely online. With our Small Business Ownership Certificate you’ll learn the skills needed to run or start your own business. Classes in business law and accounting will help ensure your business runs smoothly, while classes in marketing and website creation will give you the promotional skills you need.
