Founded in 1964, Lane Community College has a long tradition of being the community’s college; a place where people come to learn new job skill, prepare to transfer to a four-year university, or enrich their lives through lifelong learning. As Lane Community College moves into the next chapter of service to its community, College President Margaret Hamilton invites nominations and applications for the next Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.
President Hamilton is looking for a Chief Academic Officer who will provide exceptional leadership. The next Vice President of Lane Community College will be an inclusive, innovative, results-oriented and team-building leader who promotes equity, communication, transparency, and student goal attainment. They will have an astute understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing 21st century community college education, financial acumen, and the skills and passion that leads to student persistence, retention and achievement. The Vice President will be an experienced education professional with a demonstrated understanding of higher education instruction and student affairs processes. They will value teaching and workforce training, be student-centered, and embrace being part of the local community. It is anticipated that the next Vice President of Lane Community College will begin duties no later than June 30, 2018.
Lane Community College serves a 4,600 square mile area from the Cascade Mountains to the Pacific Ocean, an area larger than the states of Delaware and Rhode Island combined. With the main campus nestled in the south hills of Eugene, Oregon, a campus in downtown Eugene with student housing and a the county’s Small Business Development Center, and outreach campuses in southern Lane County (Cottage Grove) and on the central coast (Florence), Lane Community College is a central force in the economy both as a partner with local and regional businesses and as an integral part of current and future workforce development.
Lane Community College is a vibrant learning community with an average of 21,000 students enrolled each year; 28% of whom are students of color. The College boasts a robust international enrollment of approximately 600 students from about 40 countries. Its academic offerings include a full range of programs including 49 Associates degrees and 47 professional/technical certificates. In addition, its Extended Learning department provides quality learning opportunities and training programs for people of all ages; including professional-technical certificates, career and business skills, continuing education, and customized business education.

The Vice Presidential search committee will begin a review of applications immediately and continue until an appointment is made.
