Optional Classes
Sections of these optional classes are reserved for Transitions students and are taught by female faculty. These classes are highly recommended and can be taken during the term you take the Core Classes or during the following term.
- Effective Learning
Effective Learning is designed to provide students instruction in how to take notes, study for tests, cope with textbooks, and manage time effectively. Basic skills in using the library are also taught. The course is for students who have been out of school for a number of years or who want to learn good study techniques.
- Math 10
Math 10 quickly reviews whole numbers skills, and then concentrates on strengthening understanding of fractions and decimals. This class is designed for students who need to improve their fraction and decimal math skills before moving on to the faster pace of Math 20. These math classes are designed to build positive math experiences in a supportive environment. Ideal for those who have math anxiety.
- Computer ABC's
Computer ABC's is an introductory computer course. Students will work with word processing, spreadsheets, set up and email account, and learn how to search the internet. This is an easy-going class that removes the mystique surrounding computers.
- Life Transitions 2
Life Transitions 2 is designed as an optional follow-up class to be taken after successful completion of the core Transitions program. Class activities and assignments will stress practical application of skills.
- Introduction to College Writing
Offers students the opportunity to explore issues of women's identity and insight through writing, revision and editing, learning to express ideas clearly in written form. This class is specifically linked to the content of the Life Transitions core class.
