Teacher Qualified Cohort / Step 6 Pathway Interest Form

Quality Care Connections would like to invite you to participate in our first Teacher Qualified Cohort / Step 6 Pathway. We here at Quality Care Connections have created a sixteen-week-long training series, that is Step 6 focused with Infant Toddler hours. Upon completion, you will have ALL of the community-based training hours required to be a Step 6 on the Oregon Step Registry. We believe that this cohort will create a group of child care professionals who draw on each other’s experiences, while grounded in the key components of quality child care.

The components of this Completely Virtual 81-Hour Teacher Qualified Cohort Series will have:

46 Set Two Infant Toddler Hours from the Zero to Three Critical Competencies portion: 17 Human Growth & Development; 14 Learning Environments & Curriculum; 6 Personal, Professional & Leadership Development; and 9 Understanding & Guiding Behavior.

6 Set Two Hours with Observing Children 2 in Observation & Assessment.

29 Set One Hours with 9 in Diversity; 8 in Families & Community Systems; 2 in Observation & Assessment; 2 in Personal, Professional & Leadership Development; and 8 in Special Needs.

The Zero to Three Critical Competencies topics we will cover are:

* working with infants and toddlers ages birth to three years old, 
* working with dual language learners, 
* building relationships, consistent caregiving, social emotional support, 
* guiding behavior, self-esteem and belonging, 
* fostering exploration, creating curriculum, promoting play, 
* supporting problem solving, uplifting communication exchange, 
* growing language and vocabulary, and working towards early literacy. 

The Additional Training Hours cover:

* classroom management, 
* exploring the equity needs for yourself, children, families, and coworkers, 
* learning terms and definitions around identity, ability and gender, how to disrupt oppression, 
* postpartum depression, how to talk with families, family conferences and orientations, 
* transitions, observation techniques, 
* professional development pathways in early childhood education, 
* how to be inclusive, work with child care early intervention teams, and best practices for working with children on the autism spectrum.

This cohort is scheduled to run Tuesdays from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM (March to May) and Saturdays 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM (March to June) on Zoom.
