Information | Available Tests
Where are the FAA tests given?
Lane Community College - Main Campus
Testing Office, Room 116, Student Services Building (Building 1)
4000 East 30th Avenue, Eugene, OR 97405
(541) 4653-5324
What tests can I take?
You can take most FAA computer assisted examinations at LCC.
You may also take exams for FCC licenses.
What does it cost?
Most FAA exams cost $90 per test.
If you are an AOPA member, exams cost $80.
How do I set up a testing session?
-
If you have a credit card, you may call CATS (Computer Assisted Testing Service) directly to schedule an exam.
Phone: (800) 947-4228
Before calling, make sure you have your authorization to test, know the name of the test you need to take, and have your credit card number ready.
They will set up an appointment for you at our test center. CATS uses a web-based testing system called SilverCats.
To cancel a test and get a refund, you must call CATS at least 24 hours before your appointment.
- If you do not wish to use a credit card, call the LCC Testing Office at (541) 463-5324.
We will help you choose a good time to test, but cannot guarantee space for you -- people who make appointments through CATS & pay by credit card have first priority.
When you arrive at Lane, pay your test fee at the cashiers windows at Enrollment Services in the lobby of Building 1 (Student Services), and bring your receipt to the Testing Office.
We will call CATS to confirm that you have paid the test fee locally.
You will give them your personal information, and they will download the exam in 10 – 15 minutes.
- Although you may drop in for a test without calling us in advance, we cannot guarantee available space for testing or immediate service if you arrive during a busy testing period.
Please call first -- we can help you choose a favorable test time.
The best option is to reserve through CATS at (800) 947-4228.
What do I need to bring?
You must bring your test authorization AND photo identification, such as a driver's license, passport, or military ID.
-
Authorization - Bring documents that show you are authorized for the test you need to take.
We must copy most authorizations for our files.
Examples include a graduation certificate, an airman's authorization for written test, an airman's written test report (for a retake), or an instructor's certification.
In addition, check whether some specific Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) apply to the test you want to take.
If they do apply to you, bring evidence that you qualify.
- Current valid government issued photo identification.
Photo identification must list your name, current address, date of birth, signature, and contain a recent photograph.
We are required to copy it for our files.
If your photo ID does not contain your current address, please bring proof of your current address.
- If you are NOT a U.S. Citizen, you must provide your current passport in addition to another form of valid government issued photo identification.
When can I take a test?
We stop testing and collect test materials 30 minutes before closing time.
Please schedule your exam so you have enough time to finish before the office closes for the day.
The Testing Office is closed on all official college holidays in addition to inservice and training days.
