The LCC Learning Garden offers students valuable leadership experience through planning and managing hands-on activities. This is a great opportuinity to be actively involved in implementing sustainbility measures on campus.
Meet your fellow students in a unique context, build friendships,
and savor the rewards of your labor. Learning Garden volunteers
can qualify for work study, internships, service learning hours,
or class credit from specific faculty who support the garden with
their curriculum.
We currently grow organic vegetables and fruit on one acre to
provide healthy options for people who want local food on campus.
Our produce feeds Learning Garden volunteers with the bulk of the harvest
going to the Culinary Arts department as part of the national Farm
to Cafeteria Program.
The Garden was established in Spring '06 and has attracted students
from many disciplines across campus, including the ESL
program.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED: To get on our email list and receive information about our meetings and work parties, please contact us at: learninggarden@lanecc.edu. Come visit our information table in the north end of the cafeteria. Drop in anytime! The garden is located at the SW end of campus, behind Child Care Buildings 24-27.
