    Fall '96: 

    - The Web Site Steering Committee:

    ï requests that the instructors for ìIntroduction to the Internetî have their students evaluate Lane's Web site

    ï develops a job description for a Web manager at Lane and begins a comprehensive evaluation of what weíve accomplished and the challenges we face

    ï requests that Computer Services provide The Torch newspaper space on the college server

    ï reviews guidelines/procedures with an eye toward relaxing the ìrulesî

    ï meets with Marie Matsen, Interim VP for College Operations, to discuss how the committee will interface with the new TACT (Technology Advisory and Coordinating Team)


    - Dr. Rod Riegle demonstrates his Cyberguide at a campus-wide Inservice meeting and emphasizes the importance of Web site humor and graphics.

    - A work-study student is hired to work on quality control. He spends approximately 12 hours per week surfing the site to check for faulty links and guideline problems.

    - Ken Zimmerman of the English Department offers WR 123 as an on-line course delivered via the Internet with students using the World Wide Web as a research tool.

    - Webmasters at League schools and other educational institutions are polled regarding a range of legal and logistical issues related to their Web site management.

    - Process Redesign committee recommends that the Web become the standard source of student services information for both students and staff.

    - Home page steering committee wins Schafer Innovation awards:
