Frequently Asked Questions About Advance Registration
return to Advance Registration Information
Q. My financial aid pays for my LCC charges, so why should I worry about checking my account balance to avoid being dropped from classes?
A. In most cases, your financial aid only pays for charges on your account once each term (usually during the second week of the term). If you answered “NO” on the Title IV funds release question, Financial Aid will not pay your books and supplies. These charges will remain on your account. Additional charges can be added to your account throughout the term. These charges may include class fees, parking and library fines, bookstore charges, health clinic fees, etc. If you receive a bill from the college or have charges on your account after financial aid has been disbursed, you will have an outstanding balance that must be paid. It is your responsibility to check if your previous term's account balance is zero on the payment deadline, and pay the balance to avoid being dropped from your classes.
Q. How can I check my account balance to see if I owe the college any money?
A. Log in to ExpressLane; Click on Enrollment Services; Click on Student Accounts Menu;then click on Account Summary by Term and scroll down to see your account balance for the previous term.
Q. Will the college send me a reminder to check my statement the day before classes are dropped, or tell me that I have been dropped from my Advance Registration classes?
A. The college notifies credit students with e-mail addresses each month when statements are ready for viewing in ExpressLane. Students without e-mails in ExpressLane will still receive paper statements each month. You can view your account balance and course registrations in ExpressLane at any time and for any term. If you don't have a zero balance, you will be sent an email notifying you that your classes have been dropped. Because many email servers will not accept email from lanecc.edu, you cannot rely on this reminder to pay your bill.
Q. How can I tell if I have been dropped from my advance registered classes?
A. Log in to ExpressLane on the first day of regular term registration, and check your term registration schedule.
Q. How can I get back into the classes if I am dropped?
A. Pay your account balance in full. Each night after 6 p.m., you will be cleared to register. Then log in to ExpressLane and attempt to add the classes to your term schedule (i.e., re-register for the classes). Note: there is no guarantee that the classes you previously were registered for will still be open or available.
Q. Will I really be dropped from my Advance Registration classes if I only owe the college $ 0.50 for a lab fee?
A. Yes.
Q. Will I be dropped from my Advance Registration classes if an outside funding agency or family member was supposed to pay off my term bill, but they didn’t pay it by the deadline?
A. Yes. You are responsible for paying your account in full, even if an outside agency or family member sponsors you. Make sure that these sources of funding know the payment deadlines and know that you will be dropped from your advance registered classes if they do not pay your account balance in full by the payment deadline.
Q. How can I pay the account balance when the college is closed?
A. You can pay your bill on ExpressLane (but see exception below). Click on Enrollment Services; click on Student Accounts Menu; click on Statement and Payment History to make a Credit Card Payment or Payment by Check or from a Savings Account. Exception: If you have had an account balance referred to a collections agency, you may not use ExpressLane to make a payment on your account. Please contact Enrollment Services at (541) 463-3100 for assistance.
