HS 201 - Introduction to Human Services
Students will be introduced to a wide array of social and personal problems that are addressed by the field of human services. Students will explore the way economics and history shape current social welfare programs and policies. The philosophical foundation of the human service movement as well as career opportunities in the field will be examined. Trends and intervention strategies for a number of service systems will be introduced. The impact of culture and diversity on human services will be explored. CRN 30441 TR 1:00 – 2:30
HE 255 - Global Health
This course is designed to increase students' awareness about sustainability and the global health impacts of issues such as poverty, social status, and privilege. Students will explore interconnected global issues including, but not limited to: maternal and child health, hunger, agricultural production, violence, consumerism, alternative media, biodiversity, ecological health and the impacts of economic, political, personal and community behavior on the health of individuals, society and the planet.

SP 115 - Introduction to Intercultural Communication
This course is designed for people whose work, study, travel and/or interests will involve them in intercultural interactions. A variety of topics will be addressed, including the ways in which beliefs, values and attitudes affect the verbal and nonverbal behaviors of people. Students will develop awareness, understanding and sensitivity to cultural diversity of different nations and of diverse cultural groups within the United States. Students will additionally have an opportunity to deepen an appreciation of their own cultural background, and the ways in which conflict and conflict resolution may be impacted by cultural assumptions and beliefs. WATR 101 - Introduction to Water Resources
This water class provides a sociological perspective of topics including history & perception; water use; basic hydrology, water stressors at multiple scales; stormwater, wastewater & drinking water; water quality appropriate to use; water supply & demand management as well as emerging issues. COOP 280SL – Cooperative Education: Service Learning
This course provides students work experience with community partners in addressing real community needs. Students will use skills acquired at Lane in an instructional program designed to promote critical thinking, citizenship and civic responsibility. Students identify learning objectives and engage in faculty-led guided reflection activities. In this course students may develop skills, explore career options, and network with professionals while earning college credit. Instructor approval.
