Regional Convention, May 9-11, 2008

Sigma Zeta hosted the convention, and it was held at Camp Harlow. Ten chapters from the region attended for the weekend. The schedule was:

• 7:00 p.m. Suicide Prevention Presentation by Darlene Baker, Co-Chair, Jennifer Baker Foundation
• 8:30 p.m. Fellowship and Hallmark Game
• Saturday Morning
• 9:00 a.m. Honors in Action presentation by Scott Salsberry, Northern Regional VP, and Phylliss Duvall, Phi Theta Kappa International.
• 10:00 a.m. Running for Regional or International Office panel moderated by Megan Worman, Regional Communications VP. (Session repeated at 11 a.m.)
• 10:00 a.m. Introduction to Social Intelligence by Velda Arnaud, Sigma Zeta Advisor. (Session repeated at 11 a.m.)
• Saturday Lunch
• Presentation on Operation Green: Improving Our Communities by Sue Smith, Direction of Education and Training, Keep America Beautiful.
• Saturday Afternoon
• International Update by Ulugbek ‘Bek’ Baymuradov, International VP for Division IV, and Dee Lauzon, Sigma Zeta President and incoming International VP for Division IV.
• Regional Officer Candidate Caucus, moderated by Dave Arter, regional coordinator.
• Regional officer candidate speeches.
• Saturday Evening
• Keynote speech on leadership by Springfield Chief of Police, Jerry Smith.
• Keynote speech by Dr. Dale Parnell, First President of Lane Community College. Dr. Parnell was introduced by current Lane President, Dr. Mary Spilde.
