Academic Requirements Review Committee

Purpose: The Academic Requirements Review Committee (ARRC) recommends rules and policies to maintain high academic standards.

ARRC acts in an advisory capacity to the Vice President for Instruction and Student Services on the total subject of academic rules and regulations for Lane Community College.

Facilitated by: Current Chair

Membership: A minimum of twelve and a maximum of 16. Representation on the Committee will be as follows:

  1. Faculty: Five to Seven members including representation from college transfer programs, professional-technical programs and student services are appointed by Faculty Council. These shall be three year appointments, renewable for an additional three years. Appointments shall not exceed a maximum of six years.
  2. Associate Students of Lane Community College (ASLCC): ASLCC members including representation from college transfer and/or professional technical programs are appointed by Student government. These members may be one, two or three year appointments but shall not exceed a maximum of three years.
  3. Classified: Two members appointed by LCCEF. These shall be three year appointments, renewable for an additional three years. Appointments shall not exceed a maximum of six years.
  4. Managers: Three members representing college transfer programs, professional technical programs, and student services, appointed by Management Senate. These shall be three year appointments, renewable for an additional three years. Appointments shall not exceed a maximum of six years.
  5. Director of Enrollment Services/Registrar serves indefinitely.

Appointment of ARRC Members: Members are appointed to the committee by the respective appointing body to serve a three year appointment. Provisions should be made for a staggered replacement so membership will always include experienced members.

Roles/Duties of Committee Members: Committee Members meet to act on student petitions covering substitutions to requirements for AAOT, AS, or AGS degrees; waiver of requirements for AAS degrees and certificates; extensions on college deadlines and grade appeals. (The Grade Appeal Subcommittee of the ARRC has been delegated the authority to make decisions on grade appeals, see Ad Hoc.) The ARRC is the final authority for decisions regarding petitions submitted by students.

Meeting Times/Length of Meetings: Meeting Times/Length of Meetings: Called when needed, usually one hour in length.
