Vane investigates the subtle and not-so-subtle effects of atmospheric
texture on the body and movement. Music is by Sigur Ros.
Dancers are part of the The Lane Dance Company, which is a
student-based company of LCC students selected from the dance program
through a rigorous audition process. The company performs and
presents lecture demonstrations in the community.
• Anita Sanford, Jessica Ingalls‑Johnston and Lindsey Shields

50’s Woman was choreographed in 1989 and has been in Bonnie
Simoa’s repertory since 1991. The dance, both humorous and

Lane for many years. She has created a dance for 7 members of her
modern dance class with a piece titled “Rye” which is an
excerpt from a full evening-length work, “The Luther
Dances”, originally choreographed by Van Ummersen in 1994. The
dance is set to a score by Philip Glass.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Eugene Youth Ballet Biography, 2008
The Eugene Youth Ballet (EYB), the performing arm of the Eugene Ballet
Academy (EBA), was formed by artistic director, Sara Lombardi in
1994. Through its longevity and many projects and performances,
the EYB has become recognized as a viable youth arts program and
offers its members unique performing opportunities in a variety of
venues. EYB’s unique partnership with the professional
Eugene Ballet Company offers dancers not only the very best in dance
education but extraordinary professional performing opportunities. The
EYB is also committed to providing financial support and
enriching opportunities for the community’s children and families
in need, as well as to give back to the community through free public
performances at venues such as schools, nursing homes and libraries. In
2005, EYB achieved
membership into the prestigious Regional Dance America/Pacific, and performs annually at the regional festival.
“Rye” choreographed by Margo Van Ummersen
is an excerpt from a full evening length work, “The Luther
Dances”, originally choreographed in 1994 by Margo Van Ummersen.
The dance for seven LCC dancers is set to a score by Philip Glass.
Though the rest of “The Luther Dances” centers on material
that is earthy, gestural and decidely human-- a tribute to Van
Ummersen’s wonderfully eccentric father Luther who had been
struggling with and surviving drug addiction-- this finale piece takes
flight. The layered score by Philip Glass supports the dancers as they
fly, soar, dive through space with an abandon, a thirst for living life
fully, exploring the fragile line between living and dying, between
earth and air.
Kings Krew and Kings Krew Jr. were formed by Eileen King in 2006.
They are a fast paced, high energy company, that encompasses many forms
of dance including hip hop, break dancing, modern, street jazz and
contemporary Jazz. The company consists of 41 talented and passionate
dancers ages 14‑28. Kings Krew is unique in every way and each member
is trained to be versatile. The dancers are dedicated to growing in all
aspects of the art and are motivated to excel in the ever‑changing
world of dance. 9 of the 41 dancers perform in Collaborations
‘08.
Catherine Cowsill
designs costumes for dance, theater and film. As a student of
fashion design right out of high school (at FIDM in San Francisco), she
then quickly moved to New York where she found her niche designing
clothing/costumes for dance, theatre and film. Her costuming
career now spans twenty years. In 2005 Catherine launched
her clothing company, Doble-Ve, which outfits the feminine
athlete. Her collection of clothing is simultaneously feminine
and functional and can be viewed at wee.Doble-Ve.com.
