LANE JAZZ ENSEMBLES PARTICIPATE IN RENO JAZZ FESTIVAL

The Lane Jazz Ensemble, a 17-member student big band, directed by Music Instructor and Lane Jazz Festival director, Ron Bertucci represented Lane at the Reno Jazz Festival in April at the University of Nevada - Reno. Lane Music Instructor Kimberly McConnell also attended the festival with her Vocal Jazz Ensemble, "Spectrum".

This was the thirteenth consecutive appearance by the Lane Jazz Ensemble at the Reno festival. Music Instructor and LJE director, Ron Bertucci, says “This years Jazz Ensemble is perhaps the best Lane has had and will represent the college well.”

The Reno Jazz Festival attracts over 300 school groups each year and nearly 50 college ensembles. The Reno festival offers clinics and workshops by some of the country’s leading jazz artists and educators as well as three evening concerts, all of which will be attended by Lane jazz students. Jazz artist Kenny Garrett will be featured Friday night.

The Lane Ensembles also played a concert in Sisters, OR on Wednesday, April 20th and at Klamath Falls High School on Thursday, April 21st as part of a five-day tour.
The 8th annual Oregon Jazz Festival, (formerly the Lane Jazz Festival and Oregon Jazz Celebration - UO) will be held once again at Lane on January 13 and 14, 2006.

Hear the Lane Jazz Ensemble in the Performance Hall on the main campus at Lane at their spring concert on Tuesday, May 24th at 7:30 p.m. "Spectrum" Vocal Jazz/Concert and Chamber Choirs concert perform on Wednesday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $4.00 - $8.00 for Lane music ensemble concerts.
