EUGENE, Ore.– Lane Community College Public Safety once again has partnered with the DEA to host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Building 19 (Center for Meeting and Learning) Parking Lot C on main campus, 4000 E. 30th Ave., Eugene.

Just drive by and drop off, no questions asked.

Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2016 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.2 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

Take Back Day provides an opportunity for people to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths by dropping off old, unused and unwanted prescription medications. LCC Public Safety seals the drop boxes for the DEA to collect and safely incinerate.
