SPA presents new play “Neikeans” June 10 and 11 at LaneCC

EUGENE, Ore.– The Student Production Association of Lane Community College is proud to present a brand new show, “Neikeans,” from June 10 through June 11, on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m., in the Blue Door Theatre in building 6, main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue in Eugene.

This brand new one-act show is written by Cairo Smith, a second-year student at Lane. "I'm elated to have the chance to write and direct at this level, with such talented co-creators," said Cairo. The show is performed and produced completely by students with mentorship from Theater Director Brian Haimbach.

Cairo says, "The trust and freedom of the department has given us a chance to make something incredibly honest, bold, and authentic. A lot of the millennial stereotypes are inconsistent, or contradictory. I think, in many ways, we're an enigma, and finding the truth within each one of those incompatible archetypes was my main goal in writing “Neikeans.” The nekeia were the Greek goddesses of argument. They were fated to chase each other in circles eternally, with the effect of moving very quickly while failing to get anywhere."

Tickets are $5.00 suggested donation. Anyone is welcome to attend for free – nobody will be turned away. All students and Lane employees always get in for free. Tickets may be purchased at www.lanecc.edu/tickets or by calling (541) 463-5648.
