EUGENE, Ore. - “The Oresteia Project,” recently presented by the Student Production Association of Lane Community College, earned high praise from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. The KCACTF organization supports theatre in colleges and universities across the country through professional responses to productions and conferences. The Theatre program at LCC enters productions at the associate level each year, which makes the cast and crew eligible for professional feedback, Irene Ryan acting competition nominees and design recognition.

“The Oresteia Project” earned certificates of merit for the following students: Gordon McFarland and Emily Bolivar for lighting design; Isabella Lattion for stage management, Justin Dennis for sound technology. Dr. Brian Haimbach, director, and Cullen Vance, composer were also recognized with certificates of merit. Certificates of merit are awarded at the discretion of the professional respondent and are awarded selectively.

Two student actors, Taelor Warner and Alexandra Tigue, were nominated to compete at the national Irene Ryan acting competition. The two actors will select other LCC students to serve as their scene partners for the competition next February.

All the nominees and awardees are invited to attend the KCACTF regional conference and present their work.

“The Oresteia Project” ran from April 27 through May 7 in the Ragozzino Performance Hall on LCC’s main campus. According to Director and Lead Theatre Faculty Brian Haimbach, “Working on the show was a privilege. Attendance was much higher than normal and the collaboration between community professionals and students was very rewarding and extremely educational for the students.” Plans are in the works to take the show to theatre festivals on the west coast and have the material published.
