SUSAN TATAR of Facilities, Management and Planning won the first LTD Commuter Solutions Employee Transportation Coordinator of the Year Award. Susan has served as Lane’s bus pass coordinator since fall 2003 when Lane began offering the pass.
FLORENCE CENTER staff participated in the annual Habitat For Humanity Beach Walk to raise funds for local housing. The Florence staff is one of the original groups to participate in this event.
EXPRESSLANE HANDLED HEAVY FIRST-DAY DEMAND, A total of 6,683 users logged in, breaking last year’s record of 6,491, an increase of about 3 percent.
CARRIE BRANDT was named October Classified Employee of the Month. She has worked as the administrative coordinator in Social Science since September 2003. She joined Lane in October 2001 as an administrative specialist at the Florence Center.
THE RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNICIAN PROGRAM was awarded ISPQ (Institute for Sustainable Power Quality) accreditation from the Interstate Renewable Energy Council. The credential ensures continuity, consistency, and quality in the delivery of training. ISPQ credentials are awarded for a five-year period. AMANDA ERIKSEN earned Certified Meeting Professional certification from the Convention Industry Council. She is coordinator of conference services for the Center for Meeting and Learning where she has worked since September 2004. The CMP credential is recognized throughout the meetings and conventions industry as a demonstration of comprehensive knowledge and skills in meeting management.
KLCC SURPASSED ITS FALL RADIOTHON GOAL with 15 minutes to go and $285,620 in pledges on October 11. Two-thirds of KLCC's budget comes from listener and business support.
THE HARVEST DINNER, held October 26, was a sold out event. The fundraiser featured guest chef Jack Czarnecki, cookbook author, mushroom authority, and chef-owner of Joel Palmer House in Dayton, Oregon. 115 Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management program students prepared dishes for the 384 guests. The event received more than $100,000 in sponsorships, exceeding the 2006 amount. $50,000 was raised directly for Shining Star scholarships in response to the student scholar’s moving speech. This was an increase of $16,000 over last year. An update on proceeds raised by the event will be available in the coming weeks.
