LANE RECEIVED THE DISTINGUISHED BUDGET PRESENTATION AWARD from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The award recognizes the budget’s effectiveness as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications piece. For more information contact Greg Morgan, 463-5516.
LANE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL increased their home-game winning streak to 60 games on January 30 in a 101-67 victory over Linn-Benton Community College. The final home game is February 13. For more information contact coach Greg Sheley at 463-3164.
SHARON FOSTER was named Employee of the Month for January. She joined Lane in 1992. She is the administrative specialist in the Athletics Department.
RADIO STATION KLCC FM 89.7 MOVED to its new downtown Eugene location and began broadcasting from the new studio on January 4. An open house is scheduled for March 7. For more information see klcc.org.
PROFESSIONAL FITNESS TRAINING STUDENT Rebecca Chelminiak received one of only two national Lawrence A. Golding Scholarship Awards from the American College of Sports Medicine. For more information contact Marisa Hastie at 463-5552.
KLCC REPORTER FRANK NEARING retired after 23 years of volunteer reporting for public radio station KLCC FM 89.7 The Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution in his honor at its January 9 meeting, Nearing's 89th birthday. Nearing earned an associate degree in broadcasting from Lane in 1986, after retiring from a first career in social service.
SCULPTURE INSTRUCTOR LEE IMONEN was featured in an article in the January/February 2008 issue of Sculpture magazine. The six-page spread examined his recent work. Imonen has taught at Lane since 2000. For more information see www.sculpture.org/documents/scmag08/jan_08/imonen/imonen.shtml
SNOW CLOSED main campus and the Cottage Grove center on Monday, January 28. The Florence center opened two hours late.
