THE SIMULATION AND GAME PROGRAMING associate of applied science program received state approval. Lane’s board approved the program earlier in the month. The new degree will be offered through Computer Information Technology and includes coursework in computer science, multimedia, and math. Initial development is funded by Carl Perkins and Lane County Board of Commissioners grants.

THE LANE FOUNDATION kicked off a search for nursing graduates to attend the first Nursing Alumni Reunion Luncheon set for Saturday, May 19 at the Center for Meeting and Learning, and put out its annual call for nominees for the Distinguished Alumni Awards. For information call 463-5135.

SNOW AND ICE caused closures and delays at Lane and other colleges and schools in the southern Willamette Valley, on Jan. 11, 12, 16, and 17.

GREG EVANS, Rites of Passage coordinator, and JAMES FLORENDO, Native American Student Program coordinator, each received a Human Rights Award from the Associated Students of Lane Community College and Black Student Union, at the Lane County 2007 Martin Luther King Jr. celebration on January 15.

A SUSTAINABILITY CORE VALUE was adopted by the Board of Education at its January 17 meeting.

PRESIDENT MARY SPILDE received the Outstanding Public Employee Award from the Lane Council of Governments at its January 25 annual dinner. The president also received the Network of Women Leaders 2007 Service Award from the Oregon Women in Higher Education at its January 26 annual conference.
