Hello, my name is Rob Dow. I'm a Political Science major at the University of Oregon and a writing tutor here at Lane Community College. In my spare time, I like to hang out with my wife, play guitar and bass, homebrew beer, and post on my blog.

Stop by and see me or one of our other fantastic tutors at Tutor Central in the Center Building, Room 210.

Thank you for your support!
Courtney Cochran
Writing is awesome, and I hope to see everyone at the Writing Center, so I can experience everyone's varied talents and ideas.

Learning is lovely! I hope you use every opportunity you have to learn and grow - forever. It is my pleasure to participate in our mutual development. If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments about any of the Tutoring Services at Lane's 30th Ave. campus, please call me at 463-5783 or you can find me within Tutor Central in room 208. colemanl@lanecc.edu

I have been at writing tutor at Lane since Fall 2007. Both my mom and my sister are writers so I suppose I had genetic predisposition to become a writing tutor. In addition to tutoring students here at Lane, I am student in the Dance department. In a previous life, I studied at the University of Oregon and received a B.A. in psychology. I hope to become a professor of dance one day or perhaps combine my two degrees and become a dance therapist.

I started Lane in 1998. It took me four years to get out of here because in 1999 my teenage son went blind from a brain tumor, and I became deeply involved in helping him adjust to his new life. Through this I continued to work part time on my direct transfer to the University of Oregon. Somehow I managed to maintain a high grade point average and made the leap over to the big college. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 2004, and now I am a first year graduate student in the University of Oregon Folklore Program. I am taking the courses required to teach composition as a GTF, and I am becoming a better writing tutor every day.

I became a writing tutor at Lane in the Winter of 2000. This is the best job I have ever had. I learn something from the students every single time I work with them. I love demystifying the writing process and helping students find their own voices. I encourage students to let go and feel free to explore all their ideas about a subject, let it all out, make a mess. We can always tidy things up later. Once students are at ease, it is much easier to dig into more critical thinking about issues. I think we have fun in the process.

We have a great group of tutors, and it is a privilege to work with them. I plan to work here as long as they will let me.
