Teaching
Lane
Community College fosters a learning centered orientation.
The Library provides a hub for this inclination. Guided by
learning centered principles, we offer generalized library
classes, tailored workshops on a suite of topical databases
and resources, and one on one instruction at the reference
desk. I am happy
to help students in their research needs and to prepare library
instruction sessions and/or Web guides for faculty and their
classes.
Normally, the generalized
library sessions consist of a basic introduction to the
library and its services, learning how to use the catalog,
online databases and the Web. At other times, an instructor
might want to focus on a particular database and print/Web
resources specific to a particular topic.
The library also offers a 3 credit class, Library
127: Library and Information Research. This popular elective
transfer class teaches students library resources that empower
their research. They carry the skills learned here throughout
their academic career.

me by phone (463-5357) or e-mail
to arrange for a session or to discuss your research/instruction
needs.
