EBL Download Instructions

Android and Apple

Use Bluefire Reader to read downloaded books from EBL:

  1. Create an Adobe account (if you don't have one already)
  2. Install the Bluefire Reader: Apple or Android
  3. Open the Bluefire Reader App and login using your Adobe account.
  4. Go to EBL to search and download ebooks.
    Non-credit students, you will need to set up an EBL account on campus.
  5. The book will be transferred into the Bluefire Reader App.

Kindle Fire

  1. Create an Adobe account (if you don't have one already).
  2. Install the Bluefire Reader following these instructions.
  3. Open the Bluefire Reader App and login using your Adobe account.
  4. Go to EBL to search and download ebooks.
    Non-credit students, you will need to set up an EBL account on campus.
  5. The book will be transferred into the Bluefire Reader App.

Nook and Sony Reader

  1. Install Adobe Digital Editions on your computer.
  2. Create an Adobe account (if you don't have one already).
  3. Go to EBL to search and download ebooks.
    Non-credit students, you will need to set up an EBL account on campus.
  4. Download an ebook to your computer.
  5. Connect your reading device to your computer. The reader appears in Digital Editions as a new bookshelf in library.
  6. Drag and drop the documents to the reader.

Kindle Reader

  1. Go to EBL to search and download ebooks.
    Non-credit students, you will need to set up an EBL account on campus.
  2. Use Print to save a PDF to your computer:
    1. From EBL's print dialog, select the pages you want to print.
    2. Once the page(s) are displayed, right click to select print. Do not use the print icon.
    3. Change your printer to "Save as PDF." If not available, you may wish to install a pdf printer such as CutePDF Writer.
  3. Transferred PDF from your computer using Send To Kindle.

Why do I need Adobe Digital Editions and/or the Bluefire Reader?
eBooks available in Lane Library are protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM). DRM technology is used to limit copying, printing, and sharing of ebooks. Adobe Digital Editions and the Bluefire Reader allows you to transfer books that are protected by DRM.
