You can find journal, magazine and newspaper articles using the databases below. You don't even have to be in the library to use them. If you're a Lane student, you have access to thousands of magazines and newspapers from any computer when you bring up this page.

ARTstor — A rich digital library of art images and descriptive information, as well as the software tools to enable active use of the collections. Content includes images from the fields of art, architecture and archeology. ARTstor's software tools support a wide range of pedagogical and research uses including: viewing and analyzing images through features such as zooming and panning, saving groups of images online for personal or shared uses, and creating and delivering presentations both online and offline.

Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more. Coverage in the database extends back as far as the mid-1960s.

MedlinePlus — A goldmine of authoritative and current health information from the world's largest medical library, the National Library of Medicine. Includes a medical encyclopedia and a medical dictionary, lists of hospitals and physicians, health information in Spanish, extensive information on prescription and nonprescription drugs, surgery videos, and links to thousands of clinical trials. MedlinePlus is updated daily.

EBSCO’s Newspaper Source — Provides selected full text for over 180 regional U.S. newspapers, international newspapers, newswires, newspaper columns and other sources as well as indexing and abstracts for national newspapers.
Ethnic NewsWatch — Designed to provide the "other side of the story", Ethnic NewsWatch full-text titles offer additional viewpoints from those proffered by the mainstream press. Both English and Spanish language search interfaces are provided.
Lexis-Nexis Academic — Provides full-text documents from over 5,600 news, business, legal, medical, and reference publications.
New York Times Online — Full-text coverage of the US newspaper of record. Offers superb coverage of national and international news, plus coverage of important speeches and documents, Supreme Court decisions, and presidential press conference transcripts. Coverage: 1999-current
Oregon Index — The Web-accessible Oregon Index is a selective index to Oregon newspapers, and to Oregon items in selected other publications. The Oregon Index database coverage is 1985-2004.
The Oregonian — Complete full-text content of local and regional news, including community events, schools, politics, government policies, cultural activities, local companies, state industries, and people in the community. Paid advertisements are excluded. Coverage 1988 – current.
Register-Guard Full-Text — Online full-text coverage beginning late 1990's. Back issues from 1970 to the present are available on microfilm at the Lane Library's circulation counter. Microfilm of the RG prior to 1970 is available at the University of Oregon and the Eugene Public Library. The Index to the Register Guard and Eugene Weekly backfiles is currently only available at the Eugene Public Library Reference Desk.
