  1. Cost. What does child care cost? What fees are generally associated with child care? Where can I find out if I qualify for help to pay for child care? Why isn’t there more help for parents to pay for child care? Why does my provider make me pay for a child care “slot” and for vacation time?
  2. Options. What options for different types of child care are available to me? What type of care is better? How can I find out if a provider is close to me? Where can I find an employer that offers child care related benefits (i.e. on-site child care?)
  3. Regulations. What regulations apply to child care? Why are they different in different states?
  4. Quality. Is child care safe and good for children? How can I be assured my child will be cared for in a quality manner while in child care?
  5. Discipline. Is it okay for my provider to spank my child if I give him/her permission to do so?
  6. Access to my child. Can a provider tell me I have to wait until after naptime to pick up my child?
  7. Learning. Will my child learn as much in child care as in preschool? Why does my child care let the children play so much…shouldn’t they be learning more so they are ready for school?
  8. Child Abuse. How often are children abused/neglected in child care? What are the chances this will happen to my child?
  9. Services. What services do child care providers offer? Transportation? Meals, snacks? Educational opportunities?
  10. Complaints. Where can I find out if there have been any complaints about a provider? Who should I notify if I am concerned about a child care provider or program?
  11. Self-care. How old does a child need to be before they can stay home and take care of themselves?
  12. Separation Anxiety. Is it normal for my child to cry when I drop them off at child care? What length of time is normal for my child to cry?
  13. Relationship with Provider. What should I do if I have a problem with my child care provider?
  14. Work and Family. How should I approach my employer about ways that I think would help me be a better employee and parent? In what ways do other employers help their workers?
