Creating web pages at Lane - www.lanecc.edu

Departments are required to use a Lane template for the look of their webpages. However, Lane is in the process of moving the www.lanecc.edu website into a Content Management System, using a 2 track model. One track is moving the content from the current site into the CMS, initially using a basic template for all pages. The other track is working on a new design for the site which will be implemented once ready.

In the interim, all redesigns are suspended until content is moved into the CMS and a new design has been chosen. At that time, departments can review the new design and see what options are available for modifications.

Important things to remember:

• You will want to refer to the Web Information and Resources to view the guildelines about creating and maintaining web pages at Lane (www.lanecc.edu):
• You must make sure ALL your web pages at www.lanecc.edu are ADA compliant as well as following other technical requirements.
• Keep your web directory cleaned up, keeping only current files on the server.
• Due to security issues, DO NOT have ANY .exe files (executable) on the server.
• Any online forms that request personal data must only be used through a secure server, not sent via an email form. Contact Brad Hinson with questions regarding online forms and personal data, x3340.
• Optimize your images to make them as small as possible to speed up performance of your web pages. If you need assistance with preparing images for web use, email the images you want optimized/resized to webrequest@lanecc.edu, and indicate the url of the page they should be added to.
