IT UPDATE ON NEW DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME

As you've probably heard by now, the switch to Daylight Savings Time (DST) happens three weeks earlier this year on Sunday, March 11. This change will impact most of the automated systems that operate LCC's technology infrastructure including computers, servers that run Banner and GroupWise, networks, telephones and automated environmental control systems. The Information Technology Department (and Facilities) are working to mitigate these impacts by applying software patches and manual fixes, as vendors release them. Technicians will be monitoring mission critical systems over the weekend to determine if any unexpected problems arise and to ensure that important services are available.

One specific reminder about GroupWise calendar issues: During the three-week period from March 11 to April 1, it is likely that some appointments will be offset by one hour due to the DST change. It is highly recommended that users double-check their appointments for that period and take the precaution of adding the start time of the meeting to the Subject line for that appointment. Unfortunately, there is no way to ensure that all appointments will be reset properly by the software patches, adding the start time to the Subject provides a backup reminder to ensure that you'll make that meeting on time.
