Computer Support Committee Charter
Revised: November 15, 2004

Background: The Computer Support Committee has been in existence since at least 1996 with a mission to "develop, publish, and maintain a list of hardware and software that is fully supported by Electronic and Computer Services."

In 2004, the college began funding a four-year replacement cycle for staff workstations and the committee took on the added responsibility of advising the Information Technology Department on implementation of the workstation replacement plan.

Purpose: The committee makes recommendations to the Associate Vice President for Information Technology on operational issues related to maintaining staff desktop computing technologies.

Sponsor: The Associate Vice President for Information Technology is the sponsor of the committee.

Facilitator: The Manager of Technology Support Services is the committee facilitator and is responsible for scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and communications between the Computer Support Committee and college staff.

Meetings: The committee meets at least once during each academic term and may meet more often as required.

Scope of work: The committee work is focused on two related assignments:

  • Maintaining a list of supported desktop hardware and software. The list is published in COPPS.
  • Advising the Information Technology Department on administration of the staff workstation replacement program. Information about staff workstation replacement is published on the Information Technology Department website.

Membership : Membership will be reviewed and adjusted annually. The committee will consist of about 10 members with an interest in, and knowledge of, desktop technologies. Members will be chosen by the committee to represent the variety of staff interests in desktop technology and desktop management.
