Physical Therapist Assistant - Application Information

Program On-line Application Notice: The On-line Program Application will be available the morning of the first day of each application period.
Prerequisite Requirements
- There five classes are required prior to apply to the program:
- Medical Terminology HO 100 (3 credits)
- English Composition WR 121 (3 credits)
- Higher level Writing is an acceptable substitution
- General Psychology PSY 201 (3 credits)
- PSY 202 is an acceptable substitution
- Human Body Systems HO 150 (3 credits)
- BI 231, 232 and 233 is an acceptable substitution for HO 150 and HO 152. Partial series will not be accepted
- Math 60 and 65 or Math 70 (5 or more credits)
- Higher level math is an acceptable substitution
- A minimum of 25 mandatory observation hours of a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant is required to apply. More information about obtaining observation hours is available at: Observation Code of Conduct for Potential PTA Students
- Prerequisite and general education courses in the PTA core curriculum can be taken prior to entrance to the program. Course and/or equivalents are generally available at Oregon community colleges and universities.
- Course equivalences for prerequisite and core program courses are evaluated using Lane’s transfer tool.
- Academic planning and careful work with the department counselors (Academic Advising and ptaprogram@lanecc.edu, can assist applicants in preparing a competitive application. Prospective students are strongly encouraged to self-enroll in a free program advising resource, Academic Advising for Physical Therapist Assistant, in Moodle.
General Information regarding admission:
- The Physical Therapist Assistant program accepts 24 students each year and is open to Oregon Residents only. If you are an out of state resident, you must establish residency before applying to the program.
- Applicants must be high school graduates or have a GED certificate.
- Only completed applications will be accepted.
- The college will mail notification of acceptance to all qualified applicants within 60 days after the deadline date.
