Grady O'Connor, Head Track and Field Coach, 1998-current
Grady O'Connor

Grady has been the Director of both Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field since 1998. During this time, he has consistently fielded one of the most competitive teams in the Northwest. His programs have produced over 100 junior college All-Americans, seven school records, and several coach of the year honors. Over the past two years, both the men and women were crowned Regional Track and Field Champions.

Prior to Lane, Grady coached at Cottage Grove High School (1995-96). He had an immediate impact, coaching the 4A State 100m Hurdle Champion, Katie Rowlett (14.1).

He was then hired as the multi event coach at Lane (1997), where he began establishing an impressive tradition of Decathletes and Heptathletes. Under Grady's direction, seven decathletes currently hold scores that place in the All-Time Top 10 list at Lane. While his Heptathletes hold five of the top ten positions, including the school record. Many of these multi event athletes have continued on to Division I schools including: University of Oregon, University of Alabama, Michigan State University, UCLA, Boise State University, and Portland State University.

Grady attended the University of Oregon (1989-94). He was a two-sport athlete, competing and lettering in both track and football. As a freshman hurdler, he placed 5th at Junior Nationals (1990) in the 400IH (52.52). He qualified for Pac 10's four consecutive years and placed 4th in the conference (1992) in the 400IH (51.49). He was also a member of both 4x100 and 4x400 relay squads that posted season bests of 40.60 and 3:09.03.

Following his competitive days as a Duck, he joined the Oregon International Athletics Team, and continued to train and compete as a Decathlete. Grady earned his Master of Science degree in Health Education, from Oregon State University (1998). He is also USATF certified Level I and II (Multi Events).

Dan West, Assistant Track and Field Coach (Pole Vault), 1988-1992, 1999-

Dan West

Dan West is in second stint with the Titan program, having coached at the University of Oregon from 1990-1996, and now back for his sixth year coaching the Titan pole vaulters. He is undoubtedly one of the most respected coaches in the Northwest for the Pole Vault. He has the skill and expertise to coach both beginner and international caliber athletes. Dan coached Britain's top vaulter during the 1991 World Championships, and again for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. His Lane athletes currently hold both the men's and women's pole vault records. He has coached several NWAACC champions, and has consistently produced All-Americans in the event. Dan is still an active vaulter who continues to vault on the master's circuit.

Ross Krempley, Head Cross Country/Assistant Track and Field Coach (Distance) 2004-

Ross Kremply

Ross was hired in the fall to coach cross country and mid-distance runners. In his first campaign, three of his athletes secured Cross Country All-American status. He is very active among the local running community, and currently is the president and director of the post-collegiate team called "Team XO" (www.teamxo.com). Ross is also the meet director for the XO Invite and has coached at over 24 full week training camps. As a student, Ross attended the University of Oregon where he received his degree in Psychology and minored in Business, Biology and Special Education. He is scheduled, in the spring, to obtain a masters degree in Education with Biology emphasis. As an athlete in college, Ross was a four time Pac-10 finalist in the 800 for the Oregon Ducks. Upon graduation, he placed 5th in the 800 at the 2003 US Indoor Track and Field Championship.

James March, Assistant Track and Field Coach (Throwers), 2005-

James March

James March is in his second year of coaching the Titan throwers. He is originally from Hillsboro, Oregon where he attended Century High School. In the fall of 1999, James walked on to the University of Oregon Track and Field team, where he went on to become a Pac-10 and Regional qualifier in the shot put and discus. Academically, James earned a degree in History and a Masters degree in Education. He is currently a substitute teacher in Eugene. James has also coached the throws for the past two years for a local track club. James has personal bests of 16.94m (55'7") for the shot put, and 52.38 (171'10") for the Discus.
