Matt Barnhart and Grady O'Connor drove a Bobcat around the entire Oregon High School State Championship cross country course with a video camera to capture the whole 5k in 2 minutes and 23 seconds (we think that's a course record...).

  • Lane runners sweep regional titles -The Eugene Register Guard: October 29, 2007
    OREGON CITY-Jeremy McAllister won the men's 8K race Saturday, leading Lane Community College to the NWAACC Southern Region Championship at Clackamas Community College. McAllister won in 26:24, with teammates Dylan Coleman third in 27:06 and Lukas Fenley fourth at 27:08. The Titans finished with 27 points, with Clackamas second at 58 followed by Clark at 74, Southwestern Oregon 78, and Mount Hood 116. Lane also captured the women's title with 30 points with Southwestern Oregon second at 60. Mount Hood was third at 64 followed by Clark with 70. Andria Scheese of Clackamas won the 5K race in 19:16 with Lane's Katherine Barnhart second at 19:45 and Maggie Miller fourth at 19:53. Full Results: Men Women
  • Northwest Classic at LCC -The Eugene Register Guard: September 19, 2007
    Nearly 50 high schools will compete in the Northwest Cross Country Classic Saturday at Lane Community College. The day begins with an open girls race at 11 a.m., followed by the open boys race at 11:40 a.m. The junior varsity girls race is at 12:20 p.m., followed by the boys junior varsity at 1 p.m. The girls invitational begins at 1:40 p.m., followed by the boys invitational that caps the day at 2:15 p.m. All races are 5,000 meters. Sheldon, Churchill, Marshfield, North Eugene, Thurston and Willamette are among the local schools in the field. Elmira, Pleasant Hill, Siuslaw, Crow, Monroe, and Oakridge will also compete.

Ross Krempley, Head Cross Country/Assistant Track and Field Coach (Distance) 2004-

Ross Krempley

Ross was hired in the fall of 2004 to coach cross country and mid-distance runners. In his first campaign, three of his athletes secured Cross Country All-American status. In his second season, he coached the women's XC team to their first NWAACC title in twenty years, while the men's team came in second. He is very active among the local running community, and currently is the president and director of the post-collegiate team called "Team XO" (www.teamxo.com). Ross is also the meet director for the XO Invite and has coached at over 30 full week training camps. As a student, Ross attended the University of Oregon where he received a masters degree in Education (Biology) and majored in Psychology while minoring in Business, Biology and Special Education. As an athlete in college, Ross was a four time Pac-10 finalist in the 800 and 4x400 for the Oregon Ducks. Upon graduation, he placed 5th in the 800 at the 2003 US Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Tiffany Gibson, Assistant Cross Country Coach 2006-

Tiffany Gibson

Tiffany is a first year assistant coach under Ross Krempley. She is a native of Oregon and a product of Thurston High school, where she earned all league honors in track and cross country and was a two year team captain. After High school She competed for two years (2004-2006) as a Lane Titan, running both track and cross country. In those years she was a point contributor at NWAACC track championships and a part of the 2005 Women's NWAACC Cross Country Champion team. She is majoring is Health & Physical Education.

Grady O'Connor, Director of Cross Country and Track & Field, 1998-current
Grady O'Connor

Grady has been the Director of both Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field since 1998. During this time, he has consistently fielded one of the most competitive teams in the Northwest. His programs have produced over 100 junior college All-Americans, seven school records, and several coach of the year honors.
