February 8 , 2010 Update
Although we are not seeing as many cases of H1N1 currently as we did in the fall, the CDC is still encouraging all who wish to be immunized to do so now, rather than waiting to see if the expected third wave happens.
We have adequate vaccine available to supply all who are interested in being immunized. Please call 463-5665 to schedule an appointment. We still are limited to providing vaccine only to students and staff at LCC.
VACCINE RECALL INFORMATION: One of the lots of nasal vaccine distributed at Lane is on the list of recalled vaccine. Authorities are being extraordinarily cautious and recalling this vaccine because the potency is less than initially expected. There is no need to be re-vaccinated. Those who received this vaccine (Lot #500751P) are assumed to be adequately immunized.

The Lane Community College Health Clinic is in communication with state and county public health officials to monitor the H1N1 influenza situation and will respond appropriately.
H1N1 and seasonal influenza are separate and distinct illnesses and will require different vaccinations for prevention. H1N1 influenza is a contagious respiratory disease characterized by high fever, headache, cough, sore throat, aching muscles and joints, nasal congestion and general fatigue, similar to seasonal flu, however H1N1 causes more significant illness in the young, less than 24 years old, and otherwise healthy individual and in pregnancy.

IF YOU DEVELOP A FEVER AND ANY OF THE OTHER SYMPTOMS LISTED ABOVE YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO STAY HOME TO PREVENT FURTHER SPREAD OF THIS DISEASE. However, if you are pregnant, or have shortness of breath, decreased urination, or confusion you are encouraged to contact your health care provider. |
Do these simple, effective things to protect yourself and others—
- Wash your hands. Soap and water are best or you can use alcohol-based hand sanitizer products.
