2009 H1N1 Influenza Vaccine Clinics
|
November 6 , 2009 Update
-
Today's clinic (1-4 pm) is for LCC students and staff only, 16 yrs and up.
-
We are doing the best we can to distribute this vaccine to the highest risk people first:
- Health care workers and students who provide direct patient care
- Pregnant women
- Students and staff aged 16-25
- Students and staff aged 26-50 with other medical illnesses such as diabetes, heart problems, or asthma
- Those who have direct contact with infants under the age of 6 months on a regular basis
-
The Clinic currently has a limited supply of the nasal and injectable vaccine. Please sign up there.
-
Some vaccine is available by appointment as well. Please call to schedule.
If you are not in a priority group, please continue to check this website for updates. State and federal authorities anticipate distributing enough H1N1 vaccine for everyone who wishes to be vaccinated in the coming months.
-
We have ABSOLUTELY no control over the amounts and timing of allotments of vaccine.
-
It is NOT appropriate to argue with our front office staff when informed of our clinic policies regarding scheduling appointments for vaccination.
Check the Lane County Public Health Department website to see if you can get the vaccine elsewhere if you feel you must get the vaccine before we receive anymore allotments.

The Lane Community College Health Clinic is in communication with state and county public health officials to monitor the H1N1 influenza situation and will respond appropriately.
H1N1 and seasonal influenza are separate and distinct illnesses and will require different vaccinations for prevention. H1N1 influenza is a contagious respiratory disease characterized by high fever, headache, cough, sore throat, aching muscles and joints, nasal congestion and general fatigue, similar to seasonal flu, however H1N1 causes more significant illness in the young, less than 24 years old, and otherwise healthy individual and in pregnancy. |
|
The college will be receiving the H1N1 vaccine when it becomes available from the CDC some time in October of this year. H1N1 shot clinics will be scheduled as soon as vaccine is available. Please return here for further updates.
IF YOU DEVELOP A FEVER AND ANY OF THE OTHER SYMPTOMS LISTED ABOVE YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO STAY HOME TO PREVENT FURTHER SPREAD OF THIS DISEASE. However, if you are pregnant, or have shortness of breath, decreased urination, or confusion you are encouraged to contact your health care provider. |
Do these simple, effective things to protect yourself and others—
- Wash your hands. Soap and water are best or you can use alcohol-based hand sanitizer products.
- Cover your cough. Use your elbow or sleeve, or a tissue and then discard it.
- Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
- Stay home if you’re sick. Call ahead before visiting the Lane Health Clinic or your medical practitioner.
- Get vaccinated.
