How scholarship recipients will be notified
E-mail notification (or a mailed letter if there is no response to the e-mail) is sent to scholarship recipients using the address you entered into your STARS Online Scholarship Application. We do not send any notification to those not receiving an award.
If your email address, home address, or phone number changes, please notify us by sending an email to: LCCScholarships@lanecc.edu
The Foundation has a separate database and updating your contact information through the College on Expresslane or Mylane does not update our records.
Results for most scholarships will tentatively be posted on the Lane Community College website during the first week of June at: http://www.lanecc.edu/foundation/scholarshipawards.htm
Please do not call the Foundation office for results!

Steps required to finalize a scholarship award
If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, you must complete the steps listed below. Once you have completed these requirements, we will give Financial Aid authorization to apply the scholarship to your student account.
- COMPLETE AND RETURN CONFIRMATION FORM no later than September 7, 2010. By signing it you let us know that you plan to use this scholarship. If we do not receive the signed form, we will assume that you will not be using the scholarship and it will be awarded to an alternate.
- WRITE A THANK YOU NOTE to the donor whose generosity provided for your scholarship. The name of the donor will appear on your confirmation form. Return your confirmation and thank you letter to the Foundation by email or by snail mail (address below). The Foundation will forward your thank you letter to the donor of your scholarship.

- ATTEND A CELEBRATION FALL TERM to honor all scholarship recipients and the donors who made the scholarships possible. You are expected to attend this event. Invitations will be mailed to you prior to the event.
- CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING for the Foundation during the year as a way of giving back and remember Lane in the future.

NOTE: Each term you must maintain satisfactory academic progress and be enrolled for the required number of credits specified by your scholarship to continue receiving your scholarship awards.

My name was on the list of scholarship recipients, but I have not received a confirmation letter.
Call the Foundation Office to verify your address. We also use the address on your scholarship application for other reasons throughout the year. If you have moved, we may have inaccurate information. The Foundation Office has a separate database and updating your contact information through the college (ExpressLane or MyLane) does not update our records.

I received a scholarship, but the money is not in my student account.
Scholarship money will be applied to student accounts in three equal installments (Fall/Winter/Spring). The first installment will appear in your account around the second week of October. You can view this information via ExpressLane.
If your account has a hold on it for any reason, your scholarship information will not appear on ExpressLane.
Full-time enrollment is required for most scholarships, as well as maintaining satisfactory academic progress. If you do not meet these requirements, you may not receive your award.

I would like to use my scholarship award to purchase books.
Students wishing to purchase books with their scholarship award must go to the Student Accounts Service Counter in the college bookstore. Staff will be able to assist you there.

When are scholarship funds disbursed?
Foundation Scholarships are disbursed beginning the second Thursday of each term and, in most cases, disbursement occurs every Thursday thereafter, as awards become ready for payment.
If you have been awarded a scholarship through Lane’s Foundation and your award has not been disbursed by this time. You should complete this form: Foundation Scholarship Exception Request.*( )
