Bruce joined the Flight Technology staff in the Fall of 1984. His first flight was at age 11 in a Cessna 140 from the old Eugene Airport at 18th and Chambers Street. “We did a few maneuvers, waved to my uncle, and flew back to the airport".
After graduating from the University of Oregon Bruce served in the Air Force for 22 years as a navigator instructor and evaluator. During this time he lived in Turkey, Guam, Thailand, Vietnam, Virginia, Georgia, California, North Dakota, and Oregon. He earned his Commercial Pilot Certificate while in the Air Force and acquired 6,000 flight hours and 200+ combat sorties.
After retiring from the Air Force Bruce enrolled in LCC's Flight Technology program to acquire FAA Flight Instructor certification. He became a Certified Flight Instructor in 1984.
After teaching at LCC for three-years Bruce joined Horizon Air Lines and flew their 19 seat Metroliner for 1700 hours. He then returned to LCC and developed a one term nine-credit Advanced Systems/Metroliner Ground School. He taught that, and the Commercial and Instrument Ground School for several years. He now teaches our Multiengine Ground School.
In 1991 he was appointed Chief Flight Instructor, and Director of Pilot Operations in 2003.
“Over the years Bruce has piloted 70 different make or model of aircraft including the P-51 and Corsair F4U, seaplanes and gliders. He has flown airplanes with one, two, three, four, eight and zero engines.
