Applying for Aid - Special Circumstances
Although the formula used to determine eligibility for federal student aid is basically the same for all applicants, there is some flexibility. If the information provided on your FAFSA has changed SIGNIFICANTLY since you applied, you may request a Special Circumstances form from Enrollment Services. These circumstances may be loss of employment, loss of untaxed income, death of a parent, or unusual medical/dental expenses not covered by insurance. There must be compelling reasons for us to consider your request and you must provide adequate documentation to support your request.
We do not accept or review Special Circumstances until after January 1 of the current award year. This is done for many reasons, but primarily because year to date income and wage information is available and can be confirmed after the beginning of the new tax year.
