Invitation to Faculty Connections
Summer Faculty Invitation
In the summer, when the dates are set and after consulting with Human Resources and division administrative coordinators and faculty members, an invitation is sent to "new" colleagues.
Welcome to Lane Community College!
I am writing to invite you to participate in Faculty Connections in the coming academic year (enter dates here) before the college in-service.
This exemplary faculty-led program supports integration of new colleagues into the faculty and college. By "new" colleagues we mean:
- Colleagues new to either permanent or part time positions within the first 3 years.
- Permanent colleagues during their time on probation (3 years)
In this program we connect you with experienced colleagues who want, through mentoring activities, to help new colleagues become more integrated into the whole faculty.
Faculty Connections activities begin with a two-day seminar of useful and engaging activities that introduce you to the resources available to you and your students, as well as modeling a variety of teaching techniques that you can use or adapt for your own classroom.
Throughout the year, Faculty Connections participants are invited to one dinner and one Roundtable discussion per term. These optional additions encourage us to continue valuable discussions that relate to college, community, and faculty life.
Besides the satisfaction of being part of creating connection among colleagues, a small stipend is available for participants in the fall program, and the mentorship. Meals and roundtables are covered by Faculty Connections.
Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or (541) 463-5783 about participating in Faculty Connections. If you would like more details of this valuable program, please leave a time when I can call you or meet with you.
