Spring Faculty Invitation

Invitation to Faculty Connections

Fall Faculty  Invitation

The spring call goes out to "new" colleagues and experienced faculty mentors.

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

As spring term concludes, I hope you are feeling not only tired, but a sense of satisfaction for having made a difference in your students' academic lives.

I want to invite you to participate in the Faculty Connections program next year.  Faculty Connections is the exemplary faculty-led program to integrate new colleagues into the faculty and the college.  By "new" colleagues we mean anyone who has taught at the college for three years or fewer.

We also invite experienced (more than three years) faculty who want, through mentoring activities, to help our new colleagues become more integrated into the whole faculty.

The Faculty Connections starts with a two-day kick off event that will be held September 17 &18, 2012 from 9-4 in 19/243. The content includes how to navigate systems at the college, integrate engaging teaching activities into your classroom, understanding learning styles and teaching styles, relationship building among faculty across all campus disciplines, and more.

The kick-off event is followed up with a mentorship program, in which new faculty are matched with experienced faculty for regular meetings and support throughout the year.

This opportunity is funded as part of Faculty Professional Development under the current contract and both full and part time faculty are encouraged to participate. Stipends are provided for those participating in the two-day kick off event as well as the mentorship program.

Please contact me if you are interested in participating in the fall activities either as a relatively new faculty member or as an experienced faculty mentor.

on behalf of the Faculty Connections
