February 16, 2010
BOND UPDATE: ASBESTOS ABATEMENT

Crews continue work installing new insulation on the cold and hot water lines in the tunnel system and mechanical rooms. Remaining tunnel work 28 percent complete; remaining mechanical room work 19 percent complete. Contact Angela Fazio, 3428.

UTILITY SUBMETERING
Final mechanical inspections are complete; final electrical inspections still to be conducted upon resolution of an Underwriter Laboratory (UL) certification of monitoring devices. UL performed a site audit and when made available, the testing reports will be reviewed. MeasureLogic is to provide requested information for UL evaluation. Contact Angela Fazio, 541-463-3428.

PROJECT 448 KEYLESS ACCESS
The contractor, Allied Fire & Security, is currently installing door hardware on Building 7. After work is completed on 7, the next buildings are 6, 16, 19 and Center. Hardware installations on buildings 8, 9, 12, 15, 4, and 13 have been completed to date, though some procedural and hardware/electronic issues remain on these buildings. The remainder of the buildings will be commissioned through winter and spring terms. FMP electricians will be concentrating on the keyless access system over the next several months. PROJECT 451 UTILITY SUBMETERING
Final mechanical inspections are complete; final electrical inspections will be conducted upon resolution of a third-party certification of monitoring devices. Replacement of hot water main valves was completed over winter break. This completes the replacement of all cold and hot water main isolation valves in the tunnels. PROJECT 448 KEYLESS ACCESS

Work continues on the keyless access project. The first system to be installed and commissioned will be the proximity card system associated with the Center building north elevator replacement. The proximity card will allow access to the bookstore storage area on the first floor. The elevator should be inspected next week with turnover to the college soon thereafter. The next buildings to be commissioned include buildings 7, 9, 12 and the child care buildings (interior cameras only). Contact Dave Smith, 541-463-3433.

PROJECT 451 UTILITY SUBMETERING

Completed meter installations this week: water meters for buildings 1, 2, and 5; electrical meters for buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, and 27. Main building isolation valve replacements this week: domestic cold water in buildings 4, 5, and 6. In addition, eight water main valves were replaced. Contact Angela Fazio, 463-3428.

UTILITY SHUT DOWN SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 21, 22, AND 23, 2009
Electricity will be shut down in Buildings 24, 25, 26, and 27 on August 22. Contact Mark Richardson, 463-3426.

 

PROJECT 452 ELECTRICAL UPGRADES
LCC deferred maintenance electricians have been replacing up to 43 obsolete and unsafe electrical panels at the main campus. Work will continue to replace 30 additional panels in Buildings 4, 5, 11, and 12 in future weeks through the summer. 65% of the backbone conduit and control panel boxes are installed, buildings 9, 24, 12 (except for the paint booth), and 13. Panel upgrades are on hold for now due to class room schedules. Building 7 is complete, Building 4 is 75% complete. Buildings 11 and 5 are on order and we may change them out on August 22nd and 23rd. Departments effected by this work will be notified in advance in accordance with College policy.

PROJECT 448 KEYLESS ACCESS PROJECT

Allied Fire & Security began work in Building 1 Student Services, Building 9 Auto/Diesel, and Buildings 24-27 Child Care. A presentation was given to the Executive Team on July 9 to review the keyless access system planned for the campus. Much valuable guidance was received from this committee on policy related questions. Meetings with individual departments will continue for several weeks until all the campus buildings have been reviewed and requirements established. PROJECT 448 KEYLESS DOOR ACCESS

The access control consultants and LCC project coordinator staff met with Child Care and Industrial Technology department leadership to review the access controls planned for buildings within their organization. These meetings will continue for several more weeks until all the campus buildings have been reviewed and requirements established. Contact Dave Smith, 463-3433.

PROJECT 452 ELECTRICAL UPGRADES

LCC deferred maintenance electricians replaced several breakers in building 7 and in Child Care buildings 24-27 during Saturday work. Panel replacement work will continue in Buildings 7 on subsequent Saturdays. Contact Dave Smith, 463-3433.
