Diversity Scholarship Information
The Lane Foundation offers a number of diversity scholarships for current and incoming Lane students. A small list of other relevant scholarships are listed here. Also check the Virtual Library, Student Information link for other relevant info.
Lane Foundation Scholarships
2458 Loepp Endowment Scholarship
Four $1,000 awards
- Open to all majors.
- Must be graduating from an Oregon high school or equivalency before the fall term for the scholarship to be awarded.
- Must have applied for admission at Lane.
- Must be enrolled half-time or more fall, winter and spring terms.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 to continue receiving the scholarship.
- Letters of recommendation should include the following: strengths and personal qualities; knowledge of school and community activities; and why you would be a strong candidate based on the purpose of the scholarship.
- A FAFSA is not required for this application, however financial need will be considered when awarding this scholarship. Please address your specific need in your scholarship essay.
- Additional Materials Required : Must include additional essay. This scholarship is designed to promote diversity and cultural awareness and understanding of African-American, Asian-American Pacific Islander, Latino/a, and Native American/Alaska Native cultures. Explain how your life experiences support the diversity and cultural goals of this scholarship and why you believe you are a strong candidate for this scholarship.
2094 Ben and Aurora Mondragon Memorial Scholarship
Three $500 awards
- Open to all majors.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Must be awarded to a Latino student who has been engaged in community service.
- A FAFSA is not required for this application, however financial need will be considered when awarding this scholarship. Please address your specific need in your scholarship essay.
2851 Wayne H. Shields Diversity Scholarship
Four $1,200 awards
- Open to all majors.
- Must be a full-time student.
- Must apply for admission at Lane if not currently enrolled.
- Must plan to attend fall, winter and spring terms.
- Must maintain academic satisfactory progress in accordance with financial aid standards to continue receiving scholarship.
- Letters of recommendation should include the following: strengths and personal qualities; knowledge of school and community activities; and why you would be a strong candidate based on the purpose of the scholarship.
- Additional Materials Required : Must include additional essay. Explain how your life experiences support the diversity and cultural goals of this scholarship and why you believe you are a strong candidate for this scholarship.
2740-DIV Weyerhaeuser Diversity Scholarship
One $1,000 award
- Open to all majors.
- Must be a full-time student.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Must demonstrate financial need by completing a FAFSA prior to applying for a scholarship. Your EFC score must be included in your application. Please see Scholarship Application Checklist for details.
- Additional Materials Required : Must include additional essay. This scholarship is designed to promote diversity and cultural awareness and understanding of African-American, Asian-American Pacific Islander, Latino/a, and Native American/Alaska Native cultures. - Student Video Scholarships - College students are invited to interpret the Christopher belief that "One Person Can Make A Difference" in a short film of five minutes or less.
- Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund
- Presidential Freedom Scholarships - Promotes student service and civic engagement.
- Microsoft Scholarship Program - Designed to encourage students to pursue studies in computer science and related technical disciplines. Four available scholarships: General Scholarship, Women's Scholarship, Underrepresented Minority Scholarship, and Scholarships for Students with Disabilities.
- William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship for Minority - Based on academic excellence and need, is open to both undergraduate and graduate students who are members of minority groups. The Hearst Scholar serves as a summer intern with the Fund. Through this program, the Fund seeks to introduce a diverse group of students to issues relating to philanthropy, voluntarism, and nonprofit organizations. Recipients may arrange with their colleges or universities to receive academic credit for this experience.
