It is strongly recommended that you attend the orientation session, especially if you have never taken a telecourse before. During the orientation session you will receive a course syllabus complete with viewing schedules, testing and grading procedures, and tips for successfully completing your telecourse. The syllabus is provided to you at no charge if you attend the orientation session. If you are unable to attend the orientation on campus, you must purchase a copy of the syllabus in the Bookstore. Attached to the syllabus will be a blue student information card that you must complete and turn in at the Book Information Counter in the Bookstore. Make sure you obtain the syllabus before proceeding with the telecourse.

The orientations for Earth Science: Earth Revealed and Understanding Movies: American Cinema will be videotaped and broadcast live on cable, Comcast channel 23 and Charter Communications channel 9. All videotaped orientations will be available for viewing in the Lane Library the day after the orientation. Students choosing to view at home or in the Lane Library instead of attending the on-campus orientation must purchase the syllabus in LCC Bookstore. Videotaped orientations will also be rebroadcast during the first week of the term. Please see www.lanecc.edu/distance/cable/orientations.htm for the orientation repeat times.

You must obtain the syllabus and complete a blue student information card (available at the orientation session and in the Bookstore) before the end of the first week of classes or you may be administratively dropped from the course. Students are financially and academically responsible for all courses in which they enroll. Any tuition refund is based on the date of official withdrawal. After midnight, Sunday, January 11, there will be no refund of tuition or fees. If you decide not to proceed with a course, it is your responsibility to drop. Classes are dropped using ExpressLane. For college policy regarding refunds, see www.lanecc.edu/es/refunds.html
