Transition Academy

The 2010 academy was held on March 4. Please check back in February, 2011 for information on next year's academy.

Each spring, Lane Community College and the University of Oregon sponsor the Lane County Transition Academy, where high school juniors and seniors with disabilities, their parents and educators have opportunities to learn about how to succeed at a college or university. Students can gather information about college in general, and Lane in particular, as an option after high school.

The ninth annual academy took place on Thursday, March 4, 2010, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Center for Meeting and Learning at Lane Community College. Students chose from a variety of breakout sections when they arrived, including:

  • Fun and informational college-related breakout sessions

  • An interactive overview of how to use disability accommodations to aide success

  • Assistive computer technology demonstrations
  • Campus tours

Registration

All participants in the Transition Academy must pre-register. Registration takes place about a month before the scheduled date.

For questions about the Transition Academy, contact Lynn Lodge at lodgel@lanecc.edu or (541) 463-5059.
