Transition Academy

Each spring, Lane Community College and the University of Oregon sponsor the Lane County Transition Academy, where high school juniors and seniors with disabilities, their parents and educators have opportunities to learn about how to succeed at a college or university. Students can gather information about college in general, and Lane in particular, as an option after high school.

The ninth annual academy is scheduled for Thursday, March 4, 2010, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Center for Meeting and Learning at Lane Community College.

Past academies have included:

  • Fun and informational college-related breakout sessions

  • An interactive overview of how to use disability accommodations to aide success

  • Assistive computer technology demonstrations
  • Campus tours

Parent Teacher Night

Parents, teachers, transition specialists and those who advise high school students with disabilities about their educational options after high school are invited to attend Parent Teacher Night, a breakout session of Lane Preview Night on February 10. The session will present tips and resources for parents and teachers that will help students with disabilities transition to college. Check this page for more details in the near future.

Registration

Admission to the academy is free. All participants must pre-register. On-line registration will open on Wednesday, February 3 at 8 a.m. and will close after the maximum of 150 participants has been reached. Details, brochures and registration information will be available at this site in the coming weeks. For further information, contact Lynn Lodge at (541) 463-5059, lodgel@lanecc.edu.

Thank you for your interest in the Transition Academy.
