Temporary Accommodations
When a student needs temporary accommodations (typically
during a healing period after an injury or surgery), we encourage the student
to speak directly with you, the instructor. That way you can both explore ideas
and actions that will help the student access your class, depending on the
temporary condition or limitation.
Some ideas and actions you might discuss include:
- Arrange for a fellow classmate to share class notes with
the student.
- Provide extra time for the student to complete projects
and assignments.
- Encourage the student to tape record your
lecture.
- Permit the student to tape record quiz and test answers.
This accommodation might increase the amount of time needed to complete the
exam.
- Provide the student with an oral quiz or exam.
If you have any questions about appropriate temporary
accommodations, please contact Disability Services at ext. 5150.
