Curriculum Development Deadlines
Curriculum Approval Curriculum Approval Committee - approves course and program revisions, which the Curriculum Office forwards to the Oregon Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development prior to listing in Lane's catalog or schedule. The process of local and state approval takes approximately six weeks for a single course, and up to six months for a program.
The deadline for course approval for the following academic year is the January Curriculum meeting. Departments are strongly urged to meet this deadline in order to build sections for Summer term and beyond. Course revisions made after the deadline will take effect the following academic year. New courses may be approved at any time, but courses approved after the January deadline will be published online and will not be published in the print catalog until the following year. Late course changes (.doc) - departments proposing changes after the annual curriculum cycle, proposed for immediate implementation, must show evidence the department will meet relevant conditions specified by the Committee. New courses approved after the annual catalog deadline will be posted immediately in ExpressLane, and will be incorporated into the printed catalog and pdf version online for the following academic year.
Courses Meeting General Education Degree Requirements Each course that fulfills a general education requirement for a degree will be reviewed by the Degree Requirements Review Committee. That committee provides support for faculty completing the application(s) to meet degree requirements, and will meet individually with a faculty member proposing a new course prior to the committee's consideration of new proposals. Funding for Curriculum Development Funding for curriculum development - After Curriculum Approval Committee approval, faculty may apply for funding through the Unit Planning process.
