May 2004 - Carol Woodman Cooperative
Education
The Classified Employee of the Month
this May has been employed at Lane since 1985 when she began as a timesheet
worker in the Personnel office. Carol Woodman became a contracted
employee in 1988 and moved to the Cooperative Education department in November
of 1989. Many people know Carol as the one who oversees the Carl
Perkins Grant budget. And although that is a big and challenging
job, it is not her only responsibility. Carol Woodman is the Administrative
Coordinator for the very large and diverse Co-Op Education department.
Division Chair, Andrea Newton, joined other department classified and faculty
employees to recognize the outstanding job Carol does each day. Cake,
hugs, and a poem read by Merrill Watrous made the surprised Carol very
happy. Carol revealed if she was not such a lover of the outdoors
(cross country skier, hiker, kayaking, roller blading) she might spend
more time at her job. "They are my family. I look forward to coming
to work; it is like coming home to family. The department has so
much diversity - I like seeing the people and hearing about all the different
projects and activities." Carol's co-workers praised her outstanding
job performance, top-rate customer service, "team playing" skills and creative
problem solving. Carol's additional involvement with Lane activities
include AAWCC (Association of American Women in Community Colleges), Peer
to Peer, and serves as the leader of the campus walkers' group.
Hats off to Carol Woodman, Classified Employee of the Month of May.
