Kudos and Congratulations go to Novembers Classified Employee of the Month – Sylvia Sandoz

Representatives of the Classified Professional Development Team joined the staff of Institutional Research Assessment & Planning (IRAP) and other colleagues to present Sylvia Sandoz with the Employee of the Month award for November.

Sylvia has been working as the Technology Analysis and Data Specialist in IRAP since August 1995.  She joined LCC on an hourly basis in September 1987 in Academic Computer Labs and hired full-time in January 1998 in the Instructional Computer Labs.  Sylvia’s colleagues gave numerous examples to justify her receiving this award.  To name just a few, she has been instrumental in creating and providing standard sets of data/reports for instructional departments to work with in their ongoing efforts to understand department effectiveness and efficiency.  Her work with the Banner core team has been an example of her willingness to put in extra effort to achieve long-term gain, even though it meant hours and hours of additional work for her in the short term to wrangle through the details of the Banner fields.  She goes the extra mile to ensure integrity in the work we do.  She is the strength of LCC's data research when it comes to analyzing the college's student data.  For the past ten years Sylvia has been a member of Lane’s Symphonic band which performs at least one formal concert at the end of fall, winter and spring terms.  Outside of Lane, Sylvia spends her time working around her four acres of property where she almost single handedly built her dome-style home.  These days you can find her riding around on her newly acquired tractor landscaping or planting trees or playing with her two dogs.  When you see Sylvia, congratulate her for doing a terrific job and celebrate her nomination as November’s Classified Employee of the Month.
