INDIVIDUAL PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT FUND III GUIDELINES
Membership Dues, Publications and Certifications
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE FUNDS?
Any Lane Community College CONTRACTED classified salaried employee (.500 to 1.0 FTE), who has completed initial trial service.
WHAT TERMS ARE FUNDS AVAILABLE
Funds are available throughout the 2007- 2008 academic year. Applications may be submitted for approval at any time until April 30, 2008.
Note: These funds are made available through Lane Community College’s General Fund. They are not bargained funds.
HOW MUCH MONEY CAN ANY INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEE RECEIVE?
Up to $250 per year (ending June 30, 2008). The CPDT and/or its subcommittee may grant less than this amount to an individual, depending on the availability of funds and other factors. (see explanation below)
WHAT CAN THESE FUNDS BE USED FOR?
IPPD III funds can be used for professional organization membership dues, professional periodicals, publications and/or certifications.
HOW ARE FUNDS AWARDED?
The CPDT and/or its subcommittee will review your application and determine whether to award full, partial, or no reimbursement based on the merits of the request and the availability of IPPD III funds.
WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA FOR APPROVAL OF FUNDING?
Your application will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- How the membership, publication or certification will contribute to your personal and/or professional development.
- How the membership, publication or certification will enhance your contribution to Lane Community College as cited in the College Vision, Mission, Core Values or Strategic Directions.
- The membership, publication or certification is NOT a requirement for you to do your job. In this case it should be funded by your department.
- The Committee will fund no more than one employee from a department for a publication. It is expected that employees will share their publications with others in the workplace.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR THESE FUNDS?
IPPD III Applications can be downloaded as a Word doc from the CPDT website at
IPPD III Application.doc
Two (2) completed applications with supporting documentation(printed material describing the organization, publication and/or certification and associated costs) should be returned to Kathy Alexander, ext. 5588, in Human Resources.
NOTE: Incomplete applications will most likely be returned to applicant.
WHEN SHOULD I APPLY FOR IPPD III FUNDS?
Applications may be submitted, at any time, up to May 30th, 2008. You may request funding for membership dues, subscription fees or certifications you have already paid, or which you will pay at some future point during this Academic year. All receipts must be received by May 31st.
IF APPROVED FOR FUNDS, WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP?
You are expected to purchase the membership, publication and/or certification and then turn in the receipt to receive a reimbursement. No reimbursement will be made for receipts received after May 31st. Return receipts to Kathy Alexander.
Under certain hardship cases arrangements may be made with the committee to receive funds in advance.
